One of my passions has always been teaching and educating others. The joy and satisfaction that I get from delivering content and breaking down difficult concepts for students is indescribable and unique when compared to my day-job caring for unwell patients.

It is for this reason that over the years I have thrived when teaching GCSE subjects, A-level subjects and even delved into the realm of teaching various languages. My particular passion for medical education is clear and that is exactly why I wish to announce our latest plan at Medic Launch.

We have had numerous students requesting that we re-deliver our notoriously famous Biology Crash Course. We have agreed to accommodate and I am personally super excited to be delivering the aspects on human biology with a particular focus on refining exam technique in this course.

There are three tips I would like to share for the benefit of all our biology students out there:

  1. Zoom out and connect the dots

Students can sometimes get sucked into not recognising how each of the topic areas connect with one another. For example, the formation of organ systems and how processes that occur within internal cell structures such as respiration, protein synthesis and DNA replication tie together. Zooming out to connect the dots can really help after you have been through big chunks of the syllabus with no real attention paid to the bigger picture.

  1. No stones unturned

My biology teacher would always remind us not to miss out any aspects of the syllabus in our revision. In the same way, you would uncover stones to search for a lost item, so too should you ensure you cover all bases.

  1. Plants keep us alive

It seems to be a unanimously agreed upon concept that revising plant biology is the less preferred option amongst biology students when compared to human biology. I find this remarkable given the significance that plants play in our lives and the incredible way they have been created and designed to help us with our own survival. In Arabic we would say, subhanAllah! My advice is to focus close attention to plant biology as this is often the area that separates exceptional students from the rest.

So with that, I hope to share and impart further thoughts during our Biology Crash Course where for those who still have the appetite to cover the content in a comprehensive class will be privileged to benefit from some beautifully designed slides and fun interactive teaching.
