Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Journey Through the Specialities

Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Obstetrics and gynaecology focuses around women’s care with the obstetrics part caring for women during and after pregnancy and the gynaecology part dealing with the management of diseases specific to women.

Many OBGYN doctors have a major special interest in a particular area such as high-risk obstetrics, fertility care or minimal access surgery. With whichever sub speciality a doctor is involved in, the career demands a very hands-on approach as although they mainly deal with healthy women, unexpected challenges present themselves regularly.
